Study shows women are more likely to ask for a divorce

Research indicates that women, as opposed to men, more often ask for a divorce when a couple is married, but both partners are equally likely to initiate a breakup when a couple is not married, even if they are both living together. A nationwide study found that, both in Arizona and nationally, divorces are initiated by women about 69 percent of the time, while about 31 percent are initiated by men.

Child support and interstate jurisdiction over modifications

Arizona parents who have experienced a significant financial change in their circumstances since a child support order was issued may need to file a petition with the court to modify the amount of the payments. In cases in which a parent or a child have relocated to a new state since the order was issued, the parent who needs the modification may not know in which state to file the motion.

Arizona music fans may be interested to learn that Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale have filed for divorce. The couple, who have been married for 13 years, announced their split on Aug. 3. According to media reports, Stefani and Rossdale each filed divorce papers separately in Los Angeles Superior Court. Stefani listed irreconcilable differences as the reason for the breakup. The rock stars are seeking joint custody of their three children, ages 9, 6 and 1.
