Google won’t be affected by co-founder’s divorce

Arizona Internet users may have heard that a co-founder of Google has recently been divorced. After eight years of marriage, Sergey Brin divorced 23 and Me founder Anne Wojcicki. A California court approved the couple’s divorce in May, but the details of the couple’s divorce settlement were not made public. Brin and Wojcicki have two children together.

Prior to the end of their marriage, Brin and Wojcicki had reportedly separated in 2013. Brin had allegedly had a romantic relationship with a woman in Google’s Glass division during his separation. Although the former spouses began dating other people, Brin and Wojcicki have been living near each other in Los Altos since their separation. The ex-spouses are co-parenting their two children, according to reports.

Because of a prenuptial agreement that was in place, Brin and Wojcicki’s divorce is not expected to have a big affect on Google. Brin’s fortune is believed to be worth about $30 billion. Wojcicki reportedly raised over $110 million to start her human genome company, 23 and Me. One of the investors in her company is Google. Wojcicki’s sister is a long-time Google employee who is now the head of YouTube.

Having a prenuptial agreement in place before a marriage can simplify the divorce process and ensure that the details of a divorce settlement remain private. A family law attorney may be able to help a person who is going through a divorce to make sure that a prenuptial agreement is enforced. If there is no prenuptial agreement, an attorney may help a spouse to negotiate for a fair settlement.
