Arizona music fans may be interested to learn that Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale have filed for divorce. The couple, who have been married for 13 years, announced their split on Aug. 3. According to media reports, Stefani and Rossdale each filed divorce papers separately in Los Angeles Superior Court. Stefani listed irreconcilable differences as the reason for the breakup. The rock stars are seeking joint custody of their three children, ages 9, 6 and 1.
Stefani, who fronts the band No Doubt and is a judge on NBC’s “The Voice,” and Rossdale, who fronts the band Bush, were married in September 2002. Their first son was born in 2006. In a joint statement released to the press, the couple said that they were each fully committed to the co-parenting concept and to raising their three sons in a nurturing and healthy environment.
Country music legend Reba McEntire also announced the end of her marriage on Aug. 3. Through a post on her web site, the singer said that she and television producer Narvel Blackstock have separated after 26 years of marriage. There is no indication if or when the couple will file divorce papers.
The end of a marriage can be a difficult and emotional time for both parties. Arizona residents who are contemplating a divorce may benefit by seeking the advice of an attorney who has experience in family law matters. Legal counsel could be helpful when negotiating matters such as alimony, child custody, child support, visitation schedules, asset division and other divorce legal issues.
