The reasons why an individual may choose to file for divorce

On Behalf of | Aug 29, 2019 | Divorce

Women initiate 80% of all divorces in Arizona and throughout the United States. There are many reasons why this is the case. For instance, if a woman doesn’t feel an emotional connection to her partner, it may lead to problems communicating. When individuals feel like their spouses don’t meet their needs, it can lead to resentment and other negative feelings. Eventually, these feelings become difficult or impossible to overcome.

In some cases, those who feel as if their needs aren’t being met at home will seek a new partner. This may occur either before or after asking for a divorce. For some, their perception of marriage and what marriage is actually like are two different things. After a couple marries, they may stop doing or saying nice things for each other.

Research suggests that up to 45% of marriages fail because one or both parties to a marriage has a drug or alcohol problem. Those who are under the influence of a controlled substance may be prone to verbally or physically abusing their spouses. In many cases, marriages may not work because of a lack of physical intimacy or closeness between the couple.

The end of a marriage forces the parties involved to have to deal with a number of divorce legal issues. These can include the division of complex assets and debts, child custody and visitation, and alimony and child support. In many cases, the couple can negotiate a comprehensive settlement agreement with the help of their respective family law attorneys. If some of the matters can’t be resolve in this fashion and mediation fails to bring a resolution, litigation might be necessary.
